Question
Assalamualaykum. I need some advice regarding my father. My father is a muslim, we are all muslim. I sent my father for hajj years ago for him to repent. But as years passed by i noticed that he is not praying, very seldom when he is at home. And somethimes due to his anger he curse like he will tell \\\”you see he will soon die\\\”. Its just hurt because he\\\’s referring to his grand son.
Answer
You father deserves your respect even if he is not practicing Islam and is apparently not a pious Muslim. However, based on the duty of enjoing the good and prohibiting from the evil, you must keep reminding him about his duty to pray and following other commandments of the Sharia. This however must be done in a nice way which doesn’t amoutn to direspect. You can involve other people, like the local Imam or an Aalim e Deen to guide him in this matter.
As far as his cursing is concerned, it will not affect you as long as you continue to respect him and follow the religion.
