Question

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Is it permissible to perform tahiyyatul masjid salah in makruh times? Jazakallah

Answer

ؑEvery namaz, Fardh or Nafl, is not permissible in three times. The Sunrise time, when sun is rising, Sunset time, when sun is setting, and the meridian time, when sun is right overhead at noon. Additionally, there are two more times when it is Makrooh e tahrimi to offer any nalf salah. These are from the dawn, or start of fajr, to Ishraaq and after praying Asr to Sunset.

Hence if someone reached masjid after dawn or start of fajr he must not perform Tahiyyatul masjid as this is a nafl salah and is not permisslbe in these times. However, he can do tahiyyatul masjid before Asar Salah.
